Can I offer a minimum commitment or a fixed-length membership?

Not at the moment. Alba can’t require a minimum commitment, for example 3 or 6 months, on a recurring membership. A member can stop renewals at any time from their profile. Their benefits then stay until the end of the period they have already paid for.

What you can do instead

  • Sell a seasonal (one-time) membership. The customer pays once and gets access for the whole period you set. It does not renew, so there is nothing to cancel. For a “three month membership”, set the start date and end date three months apart. Everyone who buys it gets the same dates, so it does not start counting from the day each customer buys.
  • Add a sign-up fee to a recurring membership. A one-time fee is charged with the first payment. It doesn’t make members stay, but it makes very short memberships less attractive.

For the settings, see How memberships work and How to add a sign-up fee to a recurring membership. To see how a membership ends, see How can I cancel a membership.
